Thanks
to everyone who helped the guild donate more than
140
Comfort Quilts last year!
This
year we will be supporting the same organizations:
the Lowell Wish Project,
and Chernobyl Kids.
The
Lowell Wish Project provides
much needed household goods to clients and agencies in the Greater
Lowell and Lawrence areas. It is in need of quilts of all sizes - baby
quilts, lap quilts, twin, and queen. One idea for you to consider is to make a baby quilt or a
quilt for a senior for the Lowell Wish Foundation. Last December
they created Holiday gift bags for clients, and they especially needed
items for babies and for seniors. Look for quilt kits for this
purpose at the September meeting. For more info on their organization,
see: http://www.lowellwishproject.org/
The
Chernobyl Kids project
provides quilts to children from Chernobyl who visit our area for
medical treatment and fresh air during the summer.
For Chernobyl quilts, be sure to use polyester batting, not
cotton, as cotton makes a heavier quilt, and the children have low
travel weight limits. You can obtain the required batting from our roll
of 45 Pellon fleece. Size of Quilts: Maximum 45 (width of batting)
x 64. For more
information on the Chernobyl Kids project, see: http://ccpusa.org/.
