The Chelmsford Quilt Guild LibraryAbout the Library ♦ Book Reviews ♦ Old Book Reviews Are you just beginning to quilt and in need of clear, concise instructions for an easy project? Or perhaps you are looking for inspiration for something completely different? Do you need tips to help you master a new quilting technique? Do you learn best by watching video? Or do you want to curl up with a good read that has a quilting theme? The Chelmsford Quilt Guild Library is the place to go! The CQG Library is open before and during each meeting for you to browse and choose from over 300 books that you can check out for a month. There are books on topics from Appliqué to X-Stitch and everything in between. Novels with quilt themes and non-fiction books about the history of quilting make great reading. We have a few instructional DVDs and are planning to add more this year. If you have suggestions, please share them with us! Any member of the CQG is welcome to borrow these books. The library will be open by 6:15 on meeting day. There will be a sign to alert you when we are ready to receive customers. Please sign the card in the front of the book and give it to one of the librarians. Books are due at the next meeting. The librarians will try to contact you by email to remind you to bring back your books. If you would like a book reserved, write the title and your name on a piece of paper and give it to a librarian. We will try to put it aside for you. We also have a store of gently used quilting magazines that are for sale at $.25 apiece. We welcome donations, so recycle your old magazines and buy more! We also welcome book donations. Please put your name on a piece of paper with your donation so we can acknowledge your gift. We look forward to helping you find just what you need to make your quilting time fun and rewarding! Hand piecing is Beyer's preferred method, and so in this book you will find templates for all blocks and hand piecing instructions throughout. Of course, you could adapt them to machine piecing, but many are intricate with sharp points and set in seams. It probably would not be a project for a beginner, but completing this beauty would reward anyone who enjoys the peace and quiet, portability, and exactness of a hand-pieced masterpiece. Her instructions for adding borders from border print fabric and working with her "perfect piecer" tool are excellent and could be used by hand or machine piecers. Stop by and be inspired to make this your spring project.
