Comfort Quilts

Every year, Guild members make over a hundred quilts to give to special causes. This year we will be supporting the same organizations: the Wish Project, and Angels Above.

The Wish Project provides much needed household goods to clients and agencies in the Greater Lowell and Lawrence areas. It is in need of quilts of all sizes—baby quilts, lap quilts, twin, and queen sizes. The Wish Project gets special requests from shelters for handmade quilts—so please know that your efforts are greatly appreciated! If you have a twin size or larger top that you'd like to donate to the Wish Project, we can find someone to machine quilt it for you. Look for quilt kits for the Wish Project at the Comfort Quilts table at general CQG meetings.

Angels Above provides quilts to children who are chronically or critically ill at Mass General Hospital. The children range from newborns to 20 years of age. Quilts can be any size from crib to twin size. The organizer said the children's eyes sparkle and smile when they receive a quilt—especially with a theme that they loved—cats, dogs, princesses, trucks, etc. Please use cheerful fabrics or novelty fabrics that appeal to kids.

Reminder: When you take our fabric (please!), you don't have to return that exact fabric in a quilt —all we want is a quilt in exchange.

Please check our Online Projects page for easy quilts that make great contributions for this project!

Before your quilt is ready to be brought to the CQ group, check out the Comfort Quilts check-in Checklist.
